Pitch

As a group me and Jemma both presented a pitch to our class of our idea for our film  'Fatal Attraction'. We had a presentation up on the screen and we both took turns in talking about the different sections of our film, like plot, mise-en-scene, costume etc. We had it filmed so i will also upload it to my blog although we are currently having issues uploading but we are working on it. I will also find a link to our prezzi on which we made the presentation.

Trying to come up with a name for our film noir, we gathered lots of classic film noir titles such as sunset boulevard, big sleep, fatal attraction, body heat, basic instinct, sin city, strangers on a train, the third man, the maltease falcon, touch of evil, the night of the hunter, the killing, the locket, white heat, big heat, spellbound, suspicion, red light, laura, a woman's secret, kiss me deadly, the postman always rings twice, the unsuspected, out of the past and killers kiss.

When trying to come up with out own name for out production we used the titles of others and we used influence from what our own is about and brainstormed different ideas to help create a new original.

We looked up the word mirror in a thesuras as the way we are filming and editing we will be using parralell editing, this creates the aspect of the mirror and used the words gathered from that and tried to tie them in with the other film titles that we already had to try and create one.

In our lessons we started watching a film and a tv series that are in the style of film noir; Mulholland drive (film) and The Red Riding Trilogy (t.v series).

The two typically main female roles in a film noir is the Femme Fatal - the dangerous woman who knows what she wants, and exactly how she's going to get it, and The Girl Next Door - typically your more kind caring girl who helps out when she can.

The essentail message of a film noir would be - Don't trust the femme fatal, go for the girl next door! This message can be said for nearly of film noir films.

In 'The Red Riding Trilogy' the things that made it typically film noir were the following; Smoking - hazey smoke filled room, the voice over from the anti hero, the end of the series was shown at the start, distopian - Dark/depressing and lots of framing/over the shoulder shots.

Film noir will almost always be set in big cities, Chicago or New York for example and will most likely always be dark or raining, or perhaps even both!

We didn't get to watch much of Mulholland Drive - the introduction consisted of a couple dancing but were repeated over the screen multiple times and also it also introduced The Girl Next Door.

This is some evidence of our Film noir work whilst we are editing it, changing the positioning, timings and audio.

In my lessons i have been creating a short film noir piece with my fellow student, Jemma Rayner. Together we started by researching the film type of film noir and the different style of them, for example how they are filmed black and white and are set around the time of the 1940's.

The group that I was working in consisted of myself and Jemma, we found this to be a good combination for Jemma (unlike me) is extremely organised and plans well in advance and I am confident to be on camera whilst she is good at filming and I have experience in editing films.

The brief for our piece was to create a short film noir scene, in the scene we had to have two people engaging in a short conversation after entering and then have them leaving after. We also had to make sure we used the 180 degree rule whilst filming.

Mise-en-scene. When we went to go film our task unfortunately we didn't have the time to arrange a filming at a more suitable location so we filmed it in a classroom in our school. For our costumes we just used the clothes that we were wearing at the time and i also happened to be wearing a Sombrero which came to the creation of my character in our film. Props - The only prop that we used in our film was a small brown envelope.

An audience is:
A group of people experiencing an event.
Types:
Active -> Preffered - targeted audience/those a product is aimed at
Passive -> Oppositional - not the expected audience
 ---> refer how the experience is recieved not how it is sent

Distributuion -> Method of showing -> Streamed/cinema/dvd/tv broadcast
Exhibition -> Method of Watching....From industry recieved by audience

My most three frequent uses for viewing films would be, Tv, Renting (on virgin media) and Streaming.

I am a Hedonist.

FIlm Noir (litterally 'black film or cinema') was coined by french film critics. Film Noir is not a genre but rather the mood, style, point of view or tone of the film. It usually reflects to a distinct historical period of film history. Very often a film Noir story was developed around a cynical, hard-hearted, dissilusioned male character who encountered a beautiful yet promiscuous, amoral, double-dealing and seductive female. she would use her feminine wiles and come-hither sexuality to manipulate him into becoming the fall guy - often following a murder. After a betrayel or double-cross, she was frequently destroyed as well, often at the cost of a heroes life.
